Year 11 Biology

Year 11 Biology Local Ecosystems Kanahooka HS Yr 11 Biology commenced enjoyed a fantastic day in and around Minnamurra River. Students used aerial photos to describe natural and built features of the landscape. Working as a team they identified and described key plants and animals of the mangroves and saltmarsh. Once species had been identified they undertook to compare and contrast the abundance of species near the low tide and high tide zones. This information was used to formulate hypotheses about species distribution and then use a belt transect to identify patterns between species distribution and abiotic factors. Well done Kanahooka HS. Students requiring additional support can click on this link for access to spreadsheets, an e-journal, work samples and annotated photos. http://web1.illawarra-e.schools.nsw.edu.au/New_ieec/11_-_12.html To review learning the following YouTube films prepared by students may be helpful.
