Mangrove Mysteries for Year 5

Friday 15th February was a wonderful day with Year 5 students from Minnamurra PS meeting IEEC staff at the boat ramp for a fun day of Science and canoeing. Students identified and described mangrove plants and animals through first had observations. This work was linked to classroom studies of the Murray River. Well Minnmurra River and the mangrove ecosystem might not be as large a river system however it is of considerable importance as a habitat for marine life and protecting the river bank from erosion. We hope you enjoy the photos and please let us know what you think about learning in and about the environment.Mottled Shore Crab P1030524 P1030562 P1030589Red Figered mARSH CrabsNippoers and Soldier CrabWading at Minnamurra River
